Cops: Son Who Attacked Farmingdale Dad Apprehended

Nassau Police have charged a Farmingdale man with attempted murder in connection with a brutal attack on his father that took place on Aug. 30. 

Detectives took Eric Georgoulakos into custody Saturday morning while he was appearing in Queens County Court on an unrelated charge. 

The arrest stems from a domestic argument that turned violent on Aug. 30 when police were called to a Grant Street home. There, a 53 year old father had been stabbed with a knife and had staggered into the street. 

The victim's 23 year old son, Eric Georgoulakos, of the same Grant Street address, fled the scene and a manhunt was launchedin the vicinity. 

The father was transported to an area hospital where he was admitted for treatment of his injuries.

Police learned later that Georgoulakos went to a neighboring Washington Street home and asked the residents if he could use the bathroom and the phone. After being admitted in the house, Georgoulakos took the keys to a tan 2004 Chevrolet Trail Blazer and fled the home, stealing that vehicle.

Georgoulakos was charged Saturday with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.

A man walking near the Hicksville LIRR train station was grabbed from behind, pushed into a parked vehicle and robbed of his wallet and backpack. 

But the 49-year-old victim called 911 and Nassau Police located and arrested the suspect, Dominick Marinelli, 20, of Hicksville a short distance away, police said. 

The incident took place about 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday as the victim was walking toward the train to return home from work, police said. The victim was approached from behind near the east parking lot of the train station when the struggle ensued.
 
The suspect fled but the victim provided a description of Marinelli and it was broadcast to Nassau Police, who converged on the area. Police found Marinelli a short distance from the station and he was arrested without incident. 

The victim, who sustained cuts and abrasions about his body, refused medical attention. During a search of the area, the victim’s property was recovered.

Marinelli is charged with a felony count of robbery and will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead Wednesday.

Cops: Swastikas Observed in Roslyn Heights

Nassau police are investigating a bias incident that occurred this past weekend in Roslyn Heights.

According to police, a 38 year old female observed a swastika with the word “death” written in black marker behind a stop sign located at the corner of Warner Avenue and Edwards Street. Another swastika was drawn with black marker on the back of a Town of North Hempstead sign in the area, according to the witness.

The incident occurred between in a 24-hour period beginning Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. and Oct. 6.
