Nassau County Police charged a Glen Head woman with providing false information to detectives Monday.

Erica Stanco, 29, of Locust Avenue told the Sixth Squad she was abducted and threatened with a knife by a man.

Following an investigation, detectives revealed Stanco had “provided false information and fabricated the scenario.” 

Stanco is accused of falsely reporting an incident (third degree) and making a punishable false written statement.

She appears at First District Court in Hempstead Friday, Oct. 21.

 

Glen Cove Police continue to hunt for two robbers following a home invasion early Saturday.

Two people wearing ski masks underneath oversized hoods entered, bound and robbed three North Lane residents, according to police.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., the  received a 911 call for a robbery, when a female victim managed to escape and run down the road to on School Street.

Police responded to Domino's and the North Lane home, where they found two other male victims still bound, according to Lt. Fitzpatrick of the Glen Cove Police Department.

A police K-9 unit and the Aviation Unit were immediately called in to assist with the search for the robbers, who fled prior to police arrival.

Detectives believe the thieves had a getaway car parked in the / parking lot on School Street, as three unidentified persons in hoods were seen running from North Lane shortly after the robbery.

"We do not believe this was a random crime," said Lt. Fitzpatrick. "The suspects appeared to have targeted this particular residence."

The female victim suffered a head injury during the altercation and was taken to North Shore LIJ Hospital at Manhasset.

Police are looking for any information about the incident. 

"A cash reward is being offered through Crime Stoppers for information leading to an arrest, and you may remain anonymous," said Fitzpatrick.

Garden City

A Uniondale man was arrested Monday morning in East Garden City after he robbed a 24-year-old male victim of a gold pendant after he exited a Long Island bus on Stewart Avenue, Nassau County Third Squad detectives said.

Police state the victim got off the bus followed by the defendant, Christopher Washington 24, and another unknown man. As the victim approached his place of employment the unknown subject, while wearing a black ski mask, grabbed him from behind as the defendant grabbed the victim’s gold necklace causing it to break.

Washington grabbed a pendant on the chain as both he and the unknown subject fled the scene on foot, police said.

Third Precinct police officers saw the defendant at Commercial Avenue and Oak Street and placed him under arrest. The unknown subject was not apprehended and there is no further description. The pendant was not recovered. No injuries were reported.

The defendant is charged with second-degree robbery
