Garden City

Police are investigating a report where an 8-year-old child states that while standing on the sidewalk at Wyatt and Westbury roads, a white vehicle stopped next to him. The youth stated the driver, an older woman, motioned for him to come to the vehicle. When the youth did not move closer, the driver, alone in the vehicle, held up an orange cat for a couple of seconds and then drove away.

A Rosedale man was arrested last at Roosevelt Field after a Sony employee found various forgery templates on the man's computer.

According to Nassau County detectives, Donovan Davey, 26,  went to the Sony Store on Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. in order to get his Sony VAIO laptop computer repaired. Upon running a routine virus scan and performing a number of tests on Davey's computer and hard drive, a store employee observed images of credit card templates of various banking institutions, drivers' license blanks for numerous states, images of United States currency, social security card and passport templates, police said. The police were immediately notified. According to police, Davey's computer was also found to contain more than 250 stolen credit card numbers. Detectives arrested Davey  at the Sony Store as he was picking up his computer.

North Massapequa 

Police made an arrest last week in connection with a  that seriously injured a police officer. Police , 23, of Amityville, after a three-month investigation by a task force of homicide detectives, the Crimes Against Property Squad, the Seventh Precinct and the public.

Northport

An East Northport man killed his ex-girlfriend, who was the mother of his child on Monday, before taking his own life in an apparent murder-suicide, police said. Authorities said James Schultz, 31, picked up his 13-month-old child from the house of Katherine Farrell, 23, of St. James early Monday morning. That's when police said Schultz stabbed the baby's mother to death.

Police said they responded a 911 call at 8:59 a.m. in East Northport, where Schultz lived with his parents. According to police, Schultz had left the baby in another room before going to another part of the house and shooting himself. The child was not harmed. Police said that when they tried to notify the child's mother later in the day, they found she had not gone to work. Officers then went to Farrell's house, where they found her dead.

Hauppauge

A Hauppauge CEO of a bankrupt medical imaging and record company pleaded not guilty to allegedly stealing $300,000 from his employees' 401K funds. 

Om Soni, 67, of Oyster Bay, chief executive officer of Hauppauge-based Sonix Medical Records, pleaded not guilty to felony charges of second-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud in Riverhead courts.
