Garden City

While on patrol July 3, a Garden City police sergeant saw a man and a woman in a heated argument. Upon his investigation, it was determined that the male, age 20 from Baldwin, had pushed his girlfriend, a female 18-year-old from Roslyn Heights, and bit her in the hand. The man attempted to flee the scene but after a short chase, he was apprehended by police. He was charged with harassment, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

Garden City detectives arrested four Queens men June 28. According to the detectives, defendants Edward Collins, 43, Robert Ebert, 31, Idlefonso Marrero, 39, and Phillip Serrano, 36, attempted to burglarize Neptune Camera. Police said Ebert and Collins placed large garbage cans in front of the store to place stolen items into while Marrero and Serrano circled the block in a 2001 Ford, acting as lookouts. Collins and Ebert were startled by a passerby and fled in another vehicle. It was stopped by Garden City detectives where a mask, gloves, screwdriver and adjustable wrench were recovered. The defendants were charged with criminal possession of stolen property, third degree, burglary, third degree (Attempt), and possession of burglary tools. In addition, Serrano was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, third degree. The men were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead June 29.

Garden City detectives are looking for a driver of a blue/gray auto who ran over the foot of a sanitation employee on June 28 as he was stepping off a sanitation truck and then fled the scene. The employee suffered a minor foot injury. The driver of the auto is described as a male white, 30-40 years old, unshaven, short dark hair, muscular build with a large tattoo on his upper left arm.

Mineola

Mineola police are searching for a male suspect between 15 and 17 years old who allegedly set a garbage can under the southern bleachers on fire at Hampton Stadium. 

Rockville Centre

A Hopewell Junction man tried to rob a North Village Avenue bank last week, but left empty-handed and was apprehended by village police minutes after he fled the bank, officials said. According to Rockville Centre Police, Ralph V. Costa III, 23, entered a Chase Bank branch about 5:30 p.m. on Friday, and passed a demand note to a teller, threatening to use a gun. Before the teller gave him any money, Costa fled the bank on foot. Four minutes later, Rockville Centre Police Officer Alberto Melendez located Costa at the RVC train station and arrested him.

Glen Cove

A 19-year-old female was accused of menacing (second degree) on Forest Avenue on July 1.

A 38-year-old female was arrested for three counts of prostitution and three counts of unauthorized practice of profession on June 21.
