Great Neck Man Arrested for Assault in Manorhaven

Twenty-year-old assaulted with a gold club during altercation at house party on Sunday.

Nassau County Police Department's Sixth Squad reported the arrest of a Great Neck man for an assault that occurred on Sunday at 1:40 a.m. in Manorhaven.

According to detectives, an altercation occurred in the basement of a house party on Edgewood Road in Manorhaven. The disturbance eventually moved from the basement out to the driveway where, according to police, a 20-year-old male was held on the ground by another male, who has not yet been arrested, when Jonathan Barrientos, 19, of Spruce Street in Great Neck, struck the victim in the head with a golf club. Both defendants then fled the scene. The victim was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset where he was admitted in serious condition.

NCPD detectives said Barrientos surrendered himself to police on Monday. Barrientos was arrested and charged with assault in the first degree and possession of a dangerous weapon in the fourth degree. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead today.
