The Sands Point Police Department continues to compile a complete computer profile of local children.
This profile will consist of the following:
- Digital photo of your child.
- Name, date of birth, weight, height, eye and hair color, scars and other identifying features.
- A medical profile, including allergies, current medications and any medical conditions.
- Parent and emergency contact information.
This information will be stored in a confidential file on the Police Department Computer System. This profile and digital photo can be sent to another police agency in a matter of minutes if your child was reported missing.
The police department will also provide a kid friendly ID card to be carried by your child. This card will include a unique ID number that corresponds to your child's records at the Sand Point Police Department.
The department will also provide a duplicate ID card to be carried by the parent in the event that a child becomes lost in a public place such as a department store or mall. Officers will also fingerprint your child and make additional recommendation that will assist in recovering a missing or lost child.
Sands Point police also recommend updating the photo and profile on a yearly basis.
Any parent interested should contact Police Officer John Nickdow at 516-883-3100.
