If you're traveling by train this weekend – or even planning to drive on Bayview Avenue in Manhasset on your way in or out of Port Washington – take note.
The Long Island Rail Road will be replacing bridge timbers on the
Manhasset Viaduct, spanning over Bayview Avenue in Manhasset. As a safety precaution, the LIRR has announced:
- Bayview Ave will be closed in both directions in the area directly under the viaduct during the weekends of March 9-10, March 23 -24 and April 13-14.
- Each weekend, Bayview Avenue will be closed from starting on Friday at 11 p.m. through Monday at 1 a.m.
- During these weekends, buses and vans will replace east and westbound trains between Port Washington and Great Neck.
In addition, NorthShoreAlert, the mass communication system for the peninsula reports that westbound trains will board 25 minutes earlier than normal train time.
