Manhasset Man Charged with Criminal Weapon Possession

Cops: Shots fired in Great Neck Sunday.

Nassau County police say a Manhasset man was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon and another for illegal drug possession after shots were fired during an altercation Sunday in Great Neck.

During a fight broke out at the intersection of Susquehanna Avenue and Prospect Street at 5:52 p.m., a handgun was discharged before two men — who were fighting against the larger group of men — fled the scene in a car, according to police.

The two suspects were located by police inside the car in a parking garage on Maple Drive, in close proximity to the original call.

Police say the suspects were found to be in possession of multiple clear plastic bags of marijuana, according to police, who recovered a loaded automatic handgun from the car. 

Rodney D. Jackson Jr., 21, of 13 High Ct. in Manhasset was arrested and charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon second degree, second degree menacing and second degree reckless endangerment.

Kyle M. Howard, 18, of 51 Circle Dr., Westbury was arrested and charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana.

No injuries were reported.  

Both men will be arraigned on Oct. 1 at First District Court in Hempstead.
