Nearly 100 Caged Cats Discovered At Sands Point Preserve

Many are believed to be missing pets.

Nearly 100 caged cats were discovered at on Monday with “no food or water in sight,” News 12 reported.

The cats  – many of them likely pets – were found after a woman seeking her missing cat called police when she  heard  the sound of crying animals, according to News 12. The pets were found near a private home on the preserve.

Sands Point Police would not comment on the investigation at press time.

A triage section has been set up, and the cats are being tagged and identified, according to Jean-Marie Posner, vice chairman of . 

Posner encourages anyone looking for a lost cat to visit the preserve Tuesday.

“If their cat has gone missing, there’s a possibility they were trapped and brought here,” Posner said. “If they want to find their cat, they should come here.”

“It’s a very sad situation,” she said.
