NorthShoreAlert: Update on Expected Flooding

High winds, flooding information; Manhasset High School opens shelter on Monday at 8 a.m.

NorthShoreAlert, the mass communication system for the peninsula, issued this update on Sunday at 8 p.m.

Tomorrow, Monday, the greatest risks of flooding will be from 7am until 11am (3-5 feet above normal high tides) and 7pm until midnight (7-13' above normal high tides). 

Peak winds will be from 3pm-3am, with sustained winds of 45-55 mph; gusts from 65-75 mph; and periodic bursts to 85 mph.

Rain accumulation will be more moderate with 2-5 inches.

In addition to the shelters previously listed, Manhasset High Shool will be opening at 8 am tomorrow. (Other shelters include SUNY Old Westbury and Nassau Community College.)
