Port Train Delays After Person Struck

Unknown person struck by train at Forest Hills station.

An unknown person was struck by a train at the Forest Hills LIRR station on Tuesday afternoon, according to police. All train service at the station was suspended as of 5 p.m. Tuesday evening. 

The Long Island Rail Road canceled some eastbound trains, accomodating passengers with trains from Penn Station due in at Great Neck, with a stop at Woodside and all further stops to Port Washington, excluding Mets Willet Point. 

In addition the MTA Police Department restricted access into Penn Station, encouraging passengers to delay their entry into Penn Station. For updated information, check mta.info.

While information is still scarce, police and fire units responded to the area at roughly 4:30 p.m., along with an emergency services unit. 

Police could not confirm the identity of the person who had been struck at the site, and did not release any information as to whether or not the person involved in the accident was killed.

Commuters were re-routed to other stations in the area via the subway.
