Port Washington Fire Commissioner Honored

Fire Commissioner Director Robert J. Kropacek of Port Washington was recently honored for his years of dedication to the community.

Kropacek was among 29 firefighters from across Nassau County honored by County Executive Edward P.  Mangano in his Annual Firematic Awards Ceremony held in the Legislative Chambers of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building.

Mangano thanked each firefighter for the hard work and dedication put in to protecting Nassau County’s residents and property.

“It is times, such as Superstorm Sandy, where your courage shines but it is everyday heroism that personifies our Nassau County Firefighters,” Mangano said.

“We gather today to honor our brave first responders who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and consistently risk their own lives to protect our Nassau County residents," he added. "Heroism, courage and sacrifice are just three words to describe their dedication. Each and every day, firefighters wake up and respond to emergencies with a single goal: protecting the public, rarely with concern for their own safety.”
