Port Washington Man Arrested for DWI and Unlicensed Operation

The incident occurred on the Meadowbrook Parkway.

A Port Washington man was arrested for DWI and for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license. The incident marked the second time this week that a Port resident was arrested for DWI.

At 4 a.m. on Jan. 7, New York State Troopers stopped after spotting a blue Honda Accord that was on the shoulder of the southbound Meadowbrook State Parkway near the Southern State Parkway. While interviewing the driver, Jose Pereyra, age 44, of Port Washington, they detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.  Failing sobriety tests, Pereyra was then arrested for DWI.

Upon further investigation, police learned that Pereyra had a previous DWI arrest in the last 10 years. They also discovered that he was driving with a suspended license.
