PWFD: Beware of Phone Scam
Someone is soliciting donations by phone, falsely claiming to represent the fire department.
If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be raising money for the Port Washington Fire Department, beware. Port Washington’s Bravest never solicits donations by phone, said Robert Kropacek, chairman of the board of directors of the volunteer Port Washington Fire Department.
The department does, however, send out mailings seeking donations in October, Kropacek pointed out.
Residents are asked to advise family members, friends and neighbors that these calls soliciting donations on behalf of the PWFD are scams.
