Woman Seriously Injured in Flower Hill Crash

New details on serious auto accident that shut down Port Washington Blvd. Saturday.

A serious auto accident that shut down the northbound section of Port Washington Boulevard from Northern Boulevard to Bonnie Heights Road late Saturday left a woman seriously injured.

Nassau County detectives say the accident occurred just before 11 p.m., when an 85-year-old man driving a 2013 Mercedes Benz northbound on Port Washington Boulevard was struck by a 2011 Toyota traveling southbound. The driver of the Toyota, an 82-year-old male, was attempting to turn left onto Country Club Drive.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz and his 79-year-old female passenger were transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the Toyota and his passenger, a 77-year-old woman, were transported to a local hospital. The was treated for a head contusion. His passenger was treated for a punctured lung.

Detectives say there was no apparent criminality at this time. All vehicles were inspected for safety at the scene.
