Five North Hempstead officials take oath of office at ceremony Sunday in New Hyde Park.

Judi Bosworth was sworn in as the 37th Town of North Hempstead supervisor in front of a capacity crowd in New Hyde Park on Sunday.

Five separate North Hempstead officials, including Bosworth, officially took office at the standing-room-only ceremony held at indoors at Clinton G. Martin Park on a wet and dreary winter day.

New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli administered the oath of office to Bosworth, D-Great Neck, a former Nassau legislator and the second woman to be elected supervisor in North Hempstead.

Bosworth defeated Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio for the seat vacated in October by 10-year Supervisor Jon Kaiman, who was on hand at the event with numerous other elected officials including Sen. Charles Schumer, Rep. Steve Israel, state Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel and state Sen. Jack Martins.

Town Clerk Wayne Wink received the oath of office from Rep. Israel.

Town Councilmembers Viviana Russell, Angelo Ferrara and Lee Seeman were also sworn in Sunday. Each will serve in their 2nd, 5th and 3rd terms respectively.
