Duncan Sworn in as Port Washington Police Commissioner

James Duncan was recently re-elected for a sixth term.

James Duncan was sworn in for a sixth term as a commissioner of the . The ceremony, which took place on Friday at police headquarters, was conducted by two former police commissioners, Sal Zimbardi and Frank Scobbo. 

Just prior to the ceremony, the Board of Commissioners held a regular business meeting.

The meeting began with a moment of silence for who was sent to  after he was shot in East Meadow on Friday.

Next, the commissioners approved a resolution to spend $1,308.43 of asset forfeiture money on an undisclosed property siezed by the federal goverment; this property was not identified as it may be used for undercover work. The commissioners also approved a resolution to spend $3,083.50 of asset forfeiture money to purchase Stalker Radar equipment from Allied Concept, Inc.; the purchase would not go out to bid as the company is the sole source of this equipment.

Also at the meeting, residents from Habor View Homes complained of traffic problems on Fairway Drive, specifically drivers who speed and also park illegally in spring and fall during soccer seasons. Chief William J. Kilfoil said the police would be "happy to send a car" to monitor the situation.
