To George Mulligan: As long as you are voting how you and no one else wants, and not pressured into your vote, its all good. Our right to vote the way we wish is a freedom we must preserve to the end, regard if we're voting republican or democrat, so long as we are picking our vote FREELY
George Mulligan November 08, 2011 at 12:49 AM
To mememe meme: Yes, in the USA it is great that we can agree to disagree. I will vote Republican, you will vote Democrat, and hopefully we can find a common ground.

I'm so looking forward to giving Zausner my vote...the vote of no. In this case its not because he's republican but I know him, I was in his class for five years. He is a typical politician, can't deny him that, not shocked he went into politics, but he is also a typical politician caring only about himself and won't help the "lesser man." I have two favorite memories of him. One in school we needed calculators and only three people had them, so obviously we needed to share. I asked eric to use his he refused and went to everyone offering it just so I won't use it, and when everyone told him he can spare five minutes he went screaming its a free country and went running all around screaming that. Ok, it was school, but still... My other favorite memory is after school he wanted to buy beer in cigarettes and I was the cashier. I asked for id, doing my job and all, and he gave one that's obviously fake. I mean, come on, I know you, and you're trying a fake id? And the sad part is he was legal to buy the product, the id was just a formality to cover myself. I have more memories, loads, like I said I know him, but those are my favorites. I see eric as a politician, but he long ago lost any chance of my vote, and unless he did massive changing, I mean massive, I honestly do not think he will be good for this district

As long as you vote, and remind all your friends and neighbors to do the same. This is the level of government at which you have the most say and control. Get involved, go to meetings and let your voice be heard. Today, cast your vote for the candidate who best represents your ideals and vision.
mememe meme November 08, 2011 at 01:38 PM
Oh I am reminding people that today is election day. Important thing is to make sure that its our vote, and not a vote we're forced into by threats or intimidation (people tried both and more with me on facebook...but never to my face...good for them ;-) ) Our vote is our freedom, let's make it ours and give it to our candidates freely

Is the only polling place in PW the United Methodist Church up Port Blvd.?
fred November 08, 2011 at 01:56 PM
Hey mememe meme! Your name says it all. You obviously didn't learn to much in school!

@RS, find your specific polling place via this link https://voterlookup.elections.state.ny.us/votersearch.aspx

Hi fred! Thank you for your obvious insult and thank you for showing your lack of talking with civility. Please, fred, continue
matteo November 08, 2011 at 02:25 PM
I hope we end one party rule; it's bad for democracy. The party in power too long feels noblesse oblige; entitlement, not public service. It was also bad when the Repubs ruled the Town for 60 years. I like change and term limits. Open the windows and clean house every so often.
Ben November 08, 2011 at 03:56 PM
meme - your recollections from high school are foolish. Eric Z and you and I are grown ups now and not high school students. Your remarks are poorly written and way too long. Forget about high school and judge Eric on more recent encounters or observations that is if you have any? The democrats have had thier turn and now the pendulam swings back and the GOP takes the rein.
mememe meme November 08, 2011 at 04:33 PM
Ben, I love your reading skills. That school memory was from grade school. I point to where only three kids had calculators. High school every kid should have one. And the other memory was stated as being after school. I also said I have many memories of him, I only listed my favorite two. But if you want a "recent" encounter then last year at the mid term elections he was hounding the poll workers saying they have to kick out one of the candidates running from the polling center just because he was on the ballot, regardless of the fact the candidate in question was a resident and assigned that polling place. I have plenty of memories showing why I will not vote for him. But here's the thing, I'm saying why I will not vote for him, I'm not demanding you vote a particular way. Everyones vote is free, and even if you disagree with everything I stand for I will defend your right to vote your way as strongly as I defend my vote. As for the gop having a turn...personally I would never vote for a party who I consider the party of hate. But that's my personal opinion
Lucy Effron November 08, 2011 at 04:49 PM
I know I shouldn't be surprised....but I was when I found the signs for Fred Pollack removed from my front lawn this morning, and signs for his competitor posted on the utility pole in front of my house. SHAME ON YOU! I've taken down your signs, which should never have been put up in front of my home, and will hopefully find new Pollack ones before the day is over.
Ben November 08, 2011 at 04:54 PM
Meemee, You need to work at brevity use as few words as possible.
Ben November 08, 2011 at 04:54 PM
Lucy, i dont think that its a good idea to admit removing these signs you could get into trouble.
mememe meme November 08, 2011 at 05:09 PM
Ben, if you want as few words as possible..."I will not vote for eric." Enjoy. And if the poll is on lucy's property she's free to remove or add any sign she wants. If its on her property. And did you not read the point was she's upset that other people were taking down signs and replacing them with the other guy?
Lucy Effron November 08, 2011 at 05:19 PM
If people can put up signs in front of my property without my permission, I guess I should be thankful there aren't signs for every candidate.
Ben November 08, 2011 at 05:19 PM
Meme, Lucy does not own a Utility Pole and she is as bad as the person who took her Pollack signs she is not suppose to remove the signs and if Lucy has a problem with my post why not let Lucy blog and NOT YOU? Are you Lucy's mother? And you sound a bit "off" to say the least way too much anger rings from your remarks. And I am not interested in your opinions about me or Eric Z. And you should have a job or something else to do than to bash Eric and write wordy gramatically poor run-on sentences on this blog all day.
mememe meme November 08, 2011 at 05:48 PM
Hmm I posted a comment but its not here. Well it was long addressing each of ben's points so I don't think he would have read it already complaining at how long they are so I won't retype it. But to jump to the end, I love how you, ben, choose to attack the way I write from my phone. Oh yes, saying I have bad grammar, that surely will make me change my vote
Ben November 08, 2011 at 06:09 PM
meme, You are making yourself look even more foolish with each post. I would like to think that you are not that bad that perhaps yo are just having a bad day? Anyway I am off to a meeting and will not be back until after the polls have closed. The people will speak and may the best candidate win!
mememe meme November 08, 2011 at 06:27 PM
Ben, an honest question, though I think I may already know the answer. Are you able to post anything without insulting anyone? Because that seems to be what you're doing here. Attacking the length of my posts, my grammar, just plain calling me foolish Don't get me wrong I enjoy that you are showing everyone your inability to be civil, but can you post anything without insulting, even if its only pretending?
matteo November 08, 2011 at 06:36 PM
Do any of you people work for the Town? Just asking, since if you do, you sure have a stake in one party or the other. To the victor belong the spoils, and the spoils are financed off the taxpayers' backs. Politicians must remember that we work very hard for our money, and they should take-most reluctantly-only what they need. Anyone old enough to remember private property?
Michael Lipson November 09, 2011 at 03:03 AM
Despite and because of Democrats and Republicans, Port is still a great town.
PDubbsVikings November 09, 2011 at 03:23 AM
Fred... as in Fred Zausner?! Hahahahahaha you're trolling the patch to defend your son? Well at least he'll have 2 votes: you and him. We all went to school with him and we know how he is. We also can tell who you are since your only posts are defending your son. P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C! Thanks for the laugh though man. meme clearly learned that weird kids with no intelligence grow up to be weird adults with no intelligence. What a snob! I remember him too and he was always fighting with everyone. He always acted like he needed special attention and we should bend rules for him. On the other thread it says he still lives at home with his parents so I'm not too surprised daddy is fighting his battles. Seriously people, we need at the VERY least an adult in this position. How can he manage our money if he can't manage his own. He was always bragging and being an obnoxious snob and he's not even from Sands Point. The kid is a poser and now he's just a poser in a suit. Hopefully you all did the right thing and he won't be anywhere near a position of power. I'm surprised you're not embarrassed to have your name as your handle on here, I would be. Not to mention elections of this nature are never commented on THIS much. He must really still be some jerk to have 30 some odd posts in the other Wink/Zausner thread.
PDubbsVikings November 09, 2011 at 03:25 AM
Fine... forget high school... his plans make no sense and he has no experience. He can't manage my fishbowl let alone the 11th district.
PDubbsVikings November 09, 2011 at 03:29 AM
Meeting for the GOP candidates?... ;)
mememe meme November 09, 2011 at 03:33 AM
Pdubbs, while you are right about Eric thinking he can get special attention and have the rules bent for him (can't deny the truth) can you tone down the insulting him and Fred? After all, we can't call ourselves better if we stoop to their level and throw insults ourselves
PDubbsVikings November 09, 2011 at 03:48 AM
you're absolutely right. However I feel the people need to know the truth so they don't make an ill informed decision. Perhaps those comments would have served better if they were presented before the polls closed though.

With the old voting machines, you could tell who was voting straight party line by the sound of levers pushed in rapid succession from behind the curtain.
