Free Fitness Classes for North Hempstead Senior Citizens

Registration is underway for senior citizens wanting to enroll in North Hempstead's 2013 Project Independence free exercise and fitness classes.

Project Independence is the town’s program that aims to help seniors live healthy, independent lives in their homes and communities. It also provides a services to those 60 and older as they navigate available social services.

 “It’s no secret that regular physical activity helps combat diseases and improves mood and stamina,” North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman noted, in a press release. “This is just one way that Project Independence can help enhance your quality of life.”

The free classes will be held at various locations throughout North Hempstead, and include yoga, tai chi, fitness and monthly Wii fitness sessions. Classes are open to members of Project Independence who live within the town. Classes during the first half of the year will run from January-June 2013.  All instructors are certified.
