held a Sept. 11 service Tuesday at 5 p.m. to remember the fallen, and also to dedicate a new 9/11 memorial.
The program included a dedication and welcome from Mayor Giovanna Giunta.
"We've come together to commemorate a day that lives in our memories as a day of great heroism and great loss," Mayor Giovanna Giunta said.

"Today we proudly dedicate our village of Manorhaven's new 9/11 Memorial on the grounds of Village Hall, to honor those memories and events that we will never forget," she added.
Former Fire Chief Donald DeBari led the Pledge of Allegence, and Richard Hart sang “The National Anthem.”

Next spoke VFW Commander of Post #1819 John Chalker, and Trustee Lucretia Steele read a 9/11 poem. Representing Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano was Eric Zausner, who presented a citation in honor of the village’s 9/11 Memorial.
The VFW honored the fallen with a gun salute, and Joseph and Mayor Giunta performed a laying of the wreath.
Mayor Giunta closed the ceremony shortly after Hart sang “God Bless America.”
