Manorhaven Village 'Implores' AG Towers to Find Alternate Site

Activation would be "a detriment to our residents and community," the village says.

Officials from the Village of Manorhaven sent a letter to AG Towers in Babylon, urging the company to find an alternative site for a controversial cell tower located at 41 Pequot Avenue.

"As you have been aware for several years, tremendous concern has been expressed by numerous residents of the Village, particularly those who live in the Manhasset Isle neighborhood, regarding the appropriateness of a tower of this size and height at this location. There is virtually universal agreement in our Village that completion and activation of the cell tower would be a detriment to our residents and our community."

The letter comes just days after to protest activation of the tower.

It also cites compliance with a U.S. district court order on behalf of the village, and a work delay on behalf of AG Towers. Moreover, village officials offered to "relinquish all of the Village's rights under the existing Land Lease, including all income that would be paid to the Village going forward," and to refund 100 percent of payments already received, approximately $117,000.

"We implore you to investigate and identify an alternative site to satisfy your company's needs and not to re-start work at the Pequot Avenue site," officials said in the letter.
