North Hempstead Answers Concerns about Earthquake

The Town's 311 center was inundated with calls.

did not have any injuries or structural damage to Town facilities as a result of the  on Tuesday that rattled areas across Long Island and the East coast, according to Supervisor Jon Kaiman.

Despite this lack of harm, the 311 center had 59 calls in the first five minutes of the earthquake and about 100 in the first 15 minutes, according to a note from the Town.

“In the wake of the recent earthquake, we were assured that all Town buildings, pools and other facilities remain structurally sound,”  said in a statement. “Many of our residents just wanted to know if it was localized to their neighborhood or if it was something larger. It was an incredible information sharing moment.”
