North Hempstead Inaugural Ceremony Set For Sunday

Ceremony to begin at 3 p.m. in New Hyde Park.

Five recently-elected North Hempstead officials will take their oaths of office during a public ceremony Jan. 5 at Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park.

Judi Bosworth will be publicly sworn in as the town's 37th supervisor. At the 3 p.m. ceremony, she is expected to outline her first term plans and goals.

Bosworth will be sworn in by New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.

Town Clerk Wayne Wink will be sworn in by Rep. Steve Israel.

Councilwoman Viviana Russell (1st District) will be sworn in by Bishop Lionel Harvey of the First Baptist Cathedral Church of Westbury.

Councilman Angelo Ferrara (3rd District) will to be sworn in by state Sen. Jack Martins.

Councilwoman Lee Seeman (5th District), will be sworn in by state Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel.

Weather for the ceremony should be less than ideal.

According to the National Weather Service, a slight chance of freezing rain and sleet is expected Sunday before noon, with rain likely afterwards. A high temperature near 43 is forecast.
