North Hempstead Notebook: Disaster Assistance and Family Fun

If your property sustained damage from Irene, keep in mind that he deadline to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and become eligible for disaster assistance is Oct. 31. According to the , those who do not register by then will  not be eligible to receive disaster assistance funds.

Residents can register online at www.disasterassistance.gov  or by phone at (800) 621-3362.

Residents who sustained damage to septic systems are also eligible for assistance.

Family Fest

Family Fest is on at North Hempstead Beach Park. Live music will include That 70’s Band; Desert Highway, an Eagles tribute band; and Ants Marching, a Dave Matthews tribute band. Also featured, Fritzlyn Hector of Stomp, who presents RHYTHMOOVERS, and Denzel Botus, performing reggae.

The event takes place from 12-5:30 p.m. There is a $5 parking fee.
