Port's Pothole Patrol: Help for Residents

Patch readers let us know where the potholes are; we found out what to do about it.

We asked you. You told us.

Some of the worst potholes in Port Washington are found on West Shore Road before the turn onto Fairway Drive. Another trouble spot: Delaware Avenue and Port Washington Boulevard. Lower Main Street also brought up concerns, as did the stretch betweenand . And another pothole was reported in front of 34 Oldwood Road.

Patch checked in with the Town of North Hempstead, to learn what residents can do about potholes.

"Our program is simple, just call 311," a town spokesman said. "That way a service request is created and passed along to the highway department, which conducts the repairs."

And, according to the town, if the potholes reported are located on a village, county or state road, the 311 call center will provide the appropriate contact information as well as report it to the appropriate jurisdiction through the Town’s Office of Intermunicipal Coordination.
