New Trustee Appointed to Sands Point Village Board

Businesswoman Lynn Najman will serve out the remainder of newly-elected Sands Point Mayor Edward Adler's term as village board trustee.

Sands Point has appointed Harbor Acres businesswoman Lynn Najman to take his place as trustee on the Sands Point Village Board. On July 5, Najman was appointed to the trustee seat that has belonged to Adler since 1991, and will serve out the remainder of his two-year term.

"Lynn Najman is a highly-respected long term resident who is quite well-known throughout the village," said Mayor Adler. "Having served for six years as village treasurer, she has a depth of knowledge coming into the job that very few other people in the village would have. She also has a very strong background in financial matters and was very involved in village bond issues in the past, specifically concerning the Village Club. She is, in my view, an ideal fit for our board of trustees.”

Najman has been an active community member since moving to Sands Point in 1985. She served several terms as president of the Property Owner's Association of Harbor Acres, and was an original member of the Resident's Club Commission of the Village Club of Sands Point. In 2004, she became treasurer of the Village, and counts the successful refinance of village bonds as a highlight of her tenure.

"I hope that I can continue helping our village thrive," said Najman, "even in this challenging economy, in a long legacy of open, honest and inclusive government."
