'Shields Property' One Step Closer to Demolition

Town to advertise for demolition companies to tear down building.

The “Shields property” building on Port Washington Boulevard is one step closer towards demolition.

The Town of North Hempstead passed a resolution at Tuesday’s town meeting, authorizing the town clerk to advertise for bids to demolish the structures of 1070 Port Washington Boulevard.

In addition to the Port Boulevard property, the town’s Port Washington Parking District in December also purchased adjacent properties located at 5 Main Street and 6 Ohio Avenue. Ultimately, the town aims to put in an estimated 30 parking spaces, as well as use the property for open space and bicycle parking.
