Tell Us: How Prepared Are You For Storms?

Concerned about hurricane season?

Wednesday brought pounding rains to Nassau County, and heavy flooding in especially in Garden City and Mineola.

For some, the storms served as a reminder that this is hurricane season, nearly one year after Tropical Storm Irene hit Port Washington.

Local leaders want us to be prepared. For instance, Assemb. Michelle Schimel, D-Great Neck, is partnering with the Long Island Power Authority to hold seminars on on Aug. 21.

Which has us wondering: Will you attend one of the seminars? How concerned are you about hurricane season? Have you thought about putting together an storm-emergency kit for this year? Tell us in the comments.
