Kid Safety Day

Tuesday, July 26, marks the fourth annual North Hempstead Kids Safety Day.

The event focuses on educating kids about fire safety, beach and pool safety, the proper way to cross the street, the safe way to ride a bike, tips on how to safely use the internet, what to do when approached by a stranger, and more. Also participating: the Manhasset Lakeville Fire Department with a fire truck and smokehouse that children will have the opportunity to walk through. 

The event features demonstrations, face painting and arts and crafts. It takes place at Mary Jane Davies Park in Manhasset from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Third-Party Notification for Seniors

Seniors citizens take note: the Town now offers a Third Party Notification Program, enabling senior citizens, 65 years of age or older, to choose a friend or relative to receive copies of their tax bills in case a payment has been overlooked.

“Third Party Notification can give peace of mind to seniors who may spend time away from home or who may need assistance with their personal finances,” said Charles Berman, the Town’s receiver of taxes.

Applications are available online at www.northhempsteadny.gov/tax by accessing the “Forms” section or by calling 311, the Town’s call center. 

FunDay Monday Returns

FunDay Monday, a program for senior citizens, returns on Monday, June 11, to Each Monday through Aug. 29,  from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the program will feature live music, entertainment, dancing, card-playing, and more. Free parking for seniors, and also free bus transportation – call 311 for details. In the event of rain, the program will run Thursdays the same week.
