Town Employees Recognized After Tully Park Pool Chlorine Incident

Three  employees who helped to manage the  at the  pool on the morning of May 19 were honored at the Town board meeting Tuesday night.

"I would like to take a few moments to acknowledge some of the Town employees who really go and beyond the call of duty," said Supervisor .

He further explained the valiant efforts made by Chuck Carnabuci, Edward Niemann and Arthur Zapke.

"They came and took immediate action and ended up doing what I think is a wonderful service for the Town but at the time they suffered from some immediate physical ailments and had to go to the hospital," Kaiman said. "We want to say thank you, we want to acknowledge you... I understand your quick work allowed us to open the next day."

The three employees were also commended by Town of North Hempstead CSEA President Kevin Williams, who noted that when others would have left the dangerous area, these men secured it because they were more focused on others than themselves.

 "What they have was heart," Williams said of their efforts during the chlorine incident. "We owe them a lot of gratitude."

Carnabuci and Zapke attended the Town board meeting; while both would not comment on the ongoing investigation of the , both men echoed that they were thankful for being recognized.
