Town to Host 'Trashion Show' II

Second annual event set for Jan. 16 in Westbury.

The Town of North Hempstead has set the date for the return of  its “Trashion Show” event.

Scheduled for Jan. 16 at the “Yes We Can” Community Center in Westbury, the event challenges students from nine school districts in the School Recycling Partnership Program to create and model apparel and accessories made completely from recycled materials or items that would have ordinarily ended up in a landfill.

“This event is just another innovative way that the Town of North Hempstead encourages students to participate in the preservation of our environment,” said Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth in a press release.

Pieces from the show will be displayed at the gallery at the “Yes We Can” Community Center and at the New York State Capitol in Albany during March, according to the town.

Hirshleifers of Americana Manhasset will be sponsoring the 2014 event. Showtime is 7 p.m.
