Workshops to take place in January and February.

Nassau County Leg. Wayne Wink, D-Roslyn, will hold free workshops on how to file a grievance of your assessment with the Assessment Review Commission. The workshops will be held on the following dates at various locations within the 11th Legislative District:

  • Port Washington: Thursday, Jan. 17 at Port Washington Library, One Library Drive, 7-9 p.m.

  • Albertson: Thursday, Feb. 21, Shelter Rock Library, 165 Searingtown Road, 7-9 p.m.

The period to file a grievance is Jan. 2 – May 1, 2013 (a special extension to the original March 1 deadline was made due to Superstorm Sandy).  If you have questions about your assessment, or wish to file an appeal, contact the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission by phone at (516) 571-3214 or by e-mail at ARC@nassaucountyny.gov.  For further assistance, or additional information about the workshops, please contact Legislator Wayne Wink’s office at (516) 571-6211.

Mr. Wink should start to push the Re-Assessment for the stores on main street that just changed their zoning. Now the propertys are worth much more money, so its only fair that we collect more Taxes from the building owners.

If the tax system functioned properly, there would be no need to re-assess But wait a moment, how many county employees are employed by the re-assessment office?

maybe mr wink should spend his time fixing the broken system rather than wasting time teaching people to challenge flawed assessments.
Local Resident January 05, 2013 at 09:14 PM
Challenge property assessments? Our property's assessment did not increase, but our school taxes increased by 16%. Definitely a flawed system.
