Today marks the eleventh anniversary of a tragic day in the history of the FDNY. Eleven years ago, three dedicated and highly decorated firefighters were killed in the line of duty fighting a horrendous fire in Astoria Queens. Lost in that Father's Day fire were FF Brian Fahey, Rescue 4, FF Harry Ford, Rescue 4, and FF John Downing of Ladder 163. In our celebrations of our fathers today, and our giving thanks for all the good and noble things our fathers represent to us and others, let us not forget these three fathers, who willingly and unselflessly put themselves in harms way in the performance of their duties. Good men indeed. May God Bless them and their families. Thank you.
