Grace and Courage

Robin Roberts- Good Morning America

It was recently announced that Robin Roberts, the anchor of Good Morning America will soon be taking a medical leave of absence to receive a bone marrow transplant. Ms. Roberts has a rare blood disease called myelodysplastic syndrome, which oddly enough, is a rare side effect from her successful  treatment for breast cancer five years ago.  Ms. Roberts' sister will be the bone marrow donor.

I have never met Ms. Roberts, but I like her.  She is a true news professional with a keen instinct and a genuine compassion for the struggles facing the people she reports about. She has a wonderful sense of humor coupled with genuine humility.

Ms. Roberts is also a true symbol of grace and courage. Her well chronicled personal battle with breast cancer served as a beacon of hope for many women sufferiing with this disease and gave comfort to their families. She showed courage to bring an increased awareness of this disease and the importance of proper screenings, even while she battled the disease herself.

We wish this fine woman all the best as she now embarks on yet another medical challenge.  Her grace and courage will bring her through.  Of that I have no doubt. Godspeed Ms. Roberts. Thank you.
