Yesterday in a Brooklyn courtroom justice was finally served as the convicted killer of decorated New York City Police Officer Peter Figoski was sentenced by Judge Alan Marcus.
Judge Marcus made right that which the jury in the case would not do. Despite overwhelming evidence presented at trial, the jury refused to convict the animal that mercilessly shot Officer Figoski in the face, of aggravated murder. Instead, this animal was convicted of burglary and second degree murder. Under the jury's verdict, this animal could have been back roaming the streets in less than 25 years.
Judge Marcus showed fidelity to our system of justice to right and obvious wrong created by the jury. He sentenced the animal to consecutive sentences for the convictions; meaning that this animal will spend at least 45 years in jail.

Officer Figoski's four daughters stood tall and faced downed the coward who so senselessly took their father from them. They expressed themselves eloquently under extremely emotional circumstances. They did well. They were brave. They were united as one, to face down evil.
These are the type of daughters ever decent man wishes he had. Their lives have been changed forever by this tragedy. Let's hope that they may move forward and continue to be examples of family love and honor for all of us.
