Congratulations, Class 2012

More than 400 students graduated Schreiber High School Friday.

More than 400 young men and women graduated on a scorching hot Friday morning on the athletic field off of Campus Drive. Most are heading to college.

Well-wishers applauded the Class of 2012, as they took to their seats. Graduating seniors Brian Aronow, Bobby Katz and Jesse Weil sang the “National Anthem.” Music was also performed by Schreiber’s symphonic band.

Principal Ira Pernick welcomed everyone, encouraging students to put their best foot forward while embracing life’s next adventure. Assistant Principal David Miller wished the class of 2012 best of luck on its journey.

Giving the commencement address, graduating senior Brendan Weintraub urged his classmates to “give it your all no matter what” and to “never forget the time we all spent together here at Schreiber.”

Outgoing school board member Sandra Ehrlich presented the Bogart Scholarship to Renee Cohen. The scholarship is given to a student who excelled academically and served as an outstanding leader in service to the school and the community.

Former school board member Rob Seiden presented the Dr. Geoffrey N. Gordon Superintendent’s Scholarship to Sara Rodrigues. The scholarship is given to a deserving student who has overcome significant adversity or special needs to graduate and attend college.

“You are a gift. You are a blessing,” Gordon told the class. “Take your passion and run with it.”
