Register Now for Driver Ed in Port Washington

Students are encouraged to register early.

Eligible Port Washington students interested in taking drivers education, take note.

This fall, the Office of Continuing Education is offering a New York State approved driver education program.

The 16-week program consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction, homework, and 24 hours of driving instruction, with each student spending 6 hours behind the wheel. Students are also required to practice for an additional 50 hours of driving, outside of class.

The fall semester runs from Sept. 10, 2012-Jan. 28, 2013. To qualify, students must be at least 16 years of age, and have a valid learner’s permit, by Sept. 5, 2012. They must also live in the Port Washington school district.

Classroom instruction will take place at , and participants will meet for driving sessions at the front lobby steps. For specific details about the program, and for information about how to register, visit the Port Washington School District’s website.

The cost of the program is $550 – there are a limited number of full and partial scholarships available for students receiving free or reduced lunch – and students are encouraged to register early.
