Dan Trachtenberg Speaks On the History of Aviation in Port Washington at the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society

Port Washington was once a major center of aviation. Back in the 1930s, "flying boats" transported people across the Atlantic, and later, the area was the site for aircraft manufacturing during World War II.

The Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society's Curator, Dan Trachtenberg has always been drawn to Long Island's history, including its role in aviation and transportation.  On Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 7:30 pm, he will discuss "The History of Aviation in Port Washington" at the society's headquarters.

Mr. Trachtenberg has over a decade of museum experience, including curatorial and collections management, exhibit design, interpretation, and installation.  He was Collections Manager at South Street Seaport Museum and, previous to that, Curator at Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum.  He also spent two years as Curator/Director of The Sea Cliff Village Museum.
