HEARTS PortFest is May 17

Celebrating the arts in Port Washington, the festival takes place at Schreiber High School.

HEARTS' PortFest – a festival that celebrates the arts, music and community in Port Washington – is set for Saturday May 17, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Schreiber High School campus.

HEARTS will be exhibiting local student and adult artwork at PortFest. If you are a visual artist and have interest in exhibiting your work at PortFest 2014 there are a few spots left, so contact gallery director Rachelle Krieger atart@heartspw.org to apply for consideration, a spokesman said.

All of HEARTS performance stages are booked with local musicians.  However if you are part of a local musical performance group that may be interested in performing in next year's PortFest, reach out to event coordinator Jane Ronis at chefforanight@yahoo.com.

If you'd like to join and support the arts with friends, family and neighbors, there are several opportunities to get involved in this year's PortFest including:arts and crafts activities, event production, community outreach, art gallery exhibition, performance stages and design and promotion.

If you appreciate the importance of the arts in childrens' lives and our community you can help the cause with your own "team" to set a goal and raise money to support music and art programs in our local public schools, aspokesman said. If you log onto HEARTS website, you will see a link to Crowdrise, which will enable you to set up a fundraising tool that you can share via email or social media.
