Port Schools to Dismiss Early on Tuesday

Pending snow storm prompts school district to take precautions.

The Port Washington School District has shortened the school day Tuesday due concerns regarding transportation at the normal dismissal hours wit the forecast calling for now this afternoon. 

For Schreiber High School and Weber Middle School dismissal will begin at 11:45 a.m., according to the school district website.

Each elementary school will dismiss two hours earlier than their normal dismissal time.  Therefore Daly will dismiss at 12:25 p.m., Guggenheim and Manorhaven at 12:40 p.m., followed by South Salem and Sousa at 1:00 p.m..  The pre-K program will also dismiss at 12:25 p.m.

The National Weather Service forecast Tuesday calls for possible heavy snow, after 1 p.m. A high temperature of near 25 is expected. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible, according to the NWS.

All school evening activities including Kids Port, the JCC program and the Daly afterschool program hace been cancelled.

A decision regarding the upcoming Board of Education meeting will be made Wednesday morning, according to the school district.
