Port Washington Schools: Possible Early Dismissal Friday

Upgraded blizzard warning may prompt schools to close early; final decision will be made Friday morning

Port Washington Public Schools may hold an early dismissal Friday, depending on the severity of a blizzard expected to hit Long Island tomorrow.

In an email and phone call sent to parents in the school district, Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Mooney said that in the event of an early dismissal, the release time schedule would be as follows:

  • Schreiber and Weber 11:45 a.m.
  • Daly 12:25 p.m.
  • Guggenheim and Manorhaven 12:40 p.m.
  • Salem and Sousa 1 p.m.

In additional, all afterschool activities would be canceled for Friday and Saturday.

The message to parents was issued Thursday evening in order to allow families to prepare in the event of an early dismissal. A final decision will be made Friday morning as school officials monitor the development of the storm.

Particularly out of line since it's a shared-use puddle for camp groups splashing, not a good poolRead More venue for individuals swimming.

The TONH should be under some investigation for charging such a high fee for a very short summerRead More season. You lose most of june and the pool closes in early September. Better off paying as you go just purchase the parking permit which is good at the Manorhaven Pool and the Harbor beach. Stop buying a season pass in protest to the yearly excessive price increase.

Contact the Village and the water district, it's probably a problem with a pipe on your street.
