Schreiber's Treehuggers Screen 'Gasland'

Assemb. Michelle Schimel was on-hand to answer questions.

Treehuggers Environmental Club recently screened "Gasland," a film about natural gas drilling.

Also present was Assemb. Michelle Schimel, D-Great Neck, who was available for question and answer, after the presentation.

Schimel encouraged the students to stay involved, and to write Governor Cuomo to express their concerns regarding hydraulic fracking, and for that matter, all environmental concerns.

The Treehuggers club has about 50 members, is responsible for installing the water hydration station in Schreiber's lobby, cultivating the vegetable garden in the courtyard, recycling in every classroom, composting in all departments of the school, and participates in many community events to support a more environmentally friendly Port Washington.
