Schreiber High School Learns of Threat

Security is increased at the school on Tuesday.

School officials sent an alert this morning warning parents of a possible threat to l. The nonspecific threat did not close the school but caused school officials to implement increased security measures.

According to officials a threatening message was posted to High School Memes. Students who saw the message informed the school via Reportit.com, a service that helps administrators detect potential risk in their schools.

According to the school district, which worked with the , the threat was "very general in nature" and "not deemed to be credible."

In a message issued to parents on Tuesday morning, Principal Ira Pernick said the "entire school was thoroughly searched by school staff and the police last night. This morning all students were searched entering the building and all secondary doors have been locked." This protocol will be followed throughout the school day."

Police vehicles were seen outside Schreiber on Tuesday. There is an increased police presence on site, said Asst. Police Chief James Salerno.
