Tell Us: Programs in Port Washington Schools

Which would you restore, or even expand?

With the Port Washington School District and the Port Washington Teachers Association reaching an agreement that extends the teacher’s contract, officials say the district will save $1.3 million.

This and other savings and revenue has some buzzing about preserving, restoring and even expanding programs in Port Washington schools. Among them: full-time librarians, PEP, and foreign language.

Which would you recommend? Tell us in the comments.

Why not do something stupid and give the taxpayers a break. If the district spends the money on other programs then in essence there was no savings!

This post and the responses indicate a misunderstanding of what happened with the budget negotiations . There isn't a pot of excess funds lying around. The concessions by the union meant costs and therefore taxes are not going up as much as they would have without concessions. But they're still going up. Restoring programs will mean further increasing costs, which actually can't happen without voters overriding the so-called cap. That's obviously not going to happen in this town at this time, so what's the point of this article?

Use the new found funds to hold our taxes down. About time the tax payers got a break.

There aren't any newly found funds and your taxes are going up. Read the article after the link.

Particularly out of line since it's a shared-use puddle for camp groups splashing, not a good poolRead More venue for individuals swimming.

The TONH should be under some investigation for charging such a high fee for a very short summerRead More season. You lose most of june and the pool closes in early September. Better off paying as you go just purchase the parking permit which is good at the Manorhaven Pool and the Harbor beach. Stop buying a season pass in protest to the yearly excessive price increase.

And speaking of investigations, what's up with Jonny's Roslyn CC fiasco?

Contact the Village and the water district, it's probably a problem with a pipe on your street.
