Two Hispanic Scholars Recognized at Schreiber

Rebecca Schaub and Alexandra Zweiner honored by Hispanic board.

Two Schreiber students have been acknowledged by the College Board’s National Hispanic Recognition Program, according to school officials.

Seniors Rebecca Schaub and Alexandra Zweiner have been designated as scholars in the program which is based upon testing scores and academic achievements of Hispanic students.

Established in 1983, The National Hispanic Recognition Program provides recognition of exceptional academic achievements of Hispanic high school seniors and identifies them to postsecondary institutions.

Students enter the program by taking the preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) as high school juniors and by identifying themselves as Hispanic.

This year, 5,300 students have been recognized as National Hispanic Scholars or honorable mention finalists.

The College Board is a not-for-profit membership association whose mission is to connect students to college success and opportunity, according to Schreiber officials.

Founded in 1900, the association is composed of more than 5,000 schools, colleges, universities, and other educational organizations. Each year, the College Board serves seven million students and their parents, 23,000 high school and 3,500 colleges through major programs and services in college admissions, guidance, assessment, financial aid, enrollment, teaching and learning.
