Weber Middle School Earns 'School to Watch' Designations

Students, teachers, parents and school officials find plenty to celebrate.

Weber pride? That seems to be in abundance.

This was obvious on Tuesday when under Principal Marilyn Rodahan received its designation and banner as a “2011 Essential Elements School to Watch” and "National School to Watch." Representatives from the New York State Middle School Association said the school was in a select group of three middle schools to receive this designation this year, pointing out that there are 7,000 schools in the state.

Weber earned this designation for being academically excellent, developmentally responsive and socially responsive, state officials said, adding that the decision had been made after an arduous process.

Students Andrew Varvaro and Peter Kirgis read the school’s mission statement. The seventh grade orchestra, led by Diane Fish, performed “Spring” by Antonio Vivaldi, and several students sang “The Weber Anthem” written by student Christina Ragione and music teacher Caroline McFarland.

Also on hand, plenty of students, teachers, principals, parents,  administrators and officials to share in the celebration.
