High-scoring sixth-grade team members Anna Finkelstein, Sarah Finkelstein, Rebecca Muratore, Julia Ruskin, and Sherry Shi placed first in the team competition, beating 30 other Nassau County teams. Second place was awarded to Roslyn, East Hills and third place was awarded to Syosset, HB Thompson.

Weber team member Julia Ruskin achieved a perfect score on the individual event and took first place in the individual competition, earning the top score out of 155 math students. Weber team member Sherry Shi tied for sixth place in the individual competition. In addition, student Joseph Melkonian, under the guidance of PEP teacher Alyssa Toscano, placed fifth in the individual competition.

The Math Olympiads Tournament draws the talents of the best and brightest math students in the nation. Students compete once a month for five months from November through March. The top five high-scoring students represent their school at the regional tournament.

Weber offers Math Olympiads contests through school-wide enrichment, a lunchtime program that delivers challenge workshops to every student in the school who desires enrichment. Students voluntarily give up their lunchtime and recess to attend.

The Math Olympiads Contests are one of many popular workshops offered to Weber students with Port Enrichment Program teacher Karen Raichoudhury.
