Haven Art Studio Opens in Port

New business opens its doors on Haven Avenue in Port Washington this month.

Almost the same name, but a much different store.

That's what residents can expect at Haven Art Studio which opened its doors Nov. 4. at 29 Haven Ave. in Port Washington.

Louis Rabman and wife, Heidi Stephens, established the new business, located at the back of the train station near the taxi depot, after the former Haven Studio closed Sept. 30.

With assistance of local workers and staff who each taught at the prior art studio for many years, the couple has transformed the business.

"We gave Haven Art Studio a cheerful, healthy face lift," said Stephens.

Renovations include new paint, floors, lights and additional space for a variety of classes and events.

At the refurbished downtown location, customers can expect updated equipment such as new kilns, pottery wheels, furniture and slab roller.

Upstairs, the gallery/store was enlarged to create additional space to house local artists' work including pieces from our talented staff to show and to sell. Also on the top floor, more space was added to provide room for expanded classes including: advanced drawing, painting, fashion illustration, jewelry-making and children's sewing and adult quilting.

Adult Potters may utilize the massive space downstairs where the studio stages ceramic classes daily, including children's classes from 4-7:30 p.m.

Class schedules and special events are listed on the company's website, including birthday party themes, potter's wheel parties for teens and ladies' night out on Wednesday evenings.
Haven Art Studio owners say they are is proud of their recycle policies.
"Everything possible that we purchase for the studio paper towels, toilet paper and gift bags are made from recycled material," said XXXX.

The studio even works to recycle its own clay.
