NYS Boating Course - Long Island Boating Course Certification / License

NEW YORK STATE BOATING SAFETY & LICENSING COURSE

This course meets the NYS and USCG requirements for PWC Operation, Youth and Adult Boating Certification (if applicable). Upon successful completion, you will have met the requirements and can operate a PWC (Jetski) or as a youth boater operate a vessel independently. You will receive a certificate (a/k/a NYS Boating License) upon successful completion of this course- certificate received same day as class which runs from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The course is designed as a comprehensive boating course, teaching the fundamentals of safe boating operation. Approved by the National Association of Boating Law Administrators, NYS requires classroom instruction, and this class includes the following topics:

  • Accidents & Emergencies
  • Boat Operation
  • Boating Related Activities
  • Boats & Motors
  • Equipment
  • Fueling & Ventilation
  • Marine Environment
  • Navigation
  • Numbering & Registration
  • Personal Watercraft
  • Rules of the Road
  • Safe Loading & Powering

Upon sucessful completion of the course a temporary certification, valid for 90 days, will be issued- adults 18 yrs of age or older will be required to mail a $10 fee to the State of New York so that their permanent Certification card can be issued within this 90 day period. For children between 10-17 yrs of age, the $10 NYS fee is waived. Book is given when you arrive at the class
