Facebook: Nassau is Jets Country

But the rest of the tri-state area, including neighboring Suffolk County, enjoys a happier sports existence - they're mostly Giants fans.

A new Facebook study shows that Nassau County may have the most depressed football fans in the country - a majority are Jets fans.

And if that wasn't bad enough, they're surrounded by Giants fans, and a good number of their friends are probably New England Patriots fans.

In a post, Sean J. Taylor of the Facebook Data Science team, wrote " At Facebook we have about 35 million account holders in the United States who have Liked a page for one of the 32 teams in the league, representing one of the most comprehensive samples of sports fanship ever collected. Put another way, more than 1 in 10 Americans have declared their support for an NFL team on Facebook."

While a majority of Nassau County football fans supported the Jets, Suffolk County, as well as all of New York City, Westchester, northern and central New Jersey, northeastern Pennsylvania and Fairfield County, Conn. supported the New York Giants.

Facebook also released data on the most common fan connections. If you're a Jets fan, chances are friends support the Giants, Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers or Philadelphia Eagles.

While the data, released days before the Super Bowl is interesting, it does not fix the biggest problem Jets fans have.

As of today, Mark Sanchez is still their quarterback.

"The idea of storing these massive trains, adding two storage tracks to Port Washington, will completely ruin the character of the town," she said. "This is creating a train depot in Port Washington..."
